Introduction
The first Australian Radio Controlled Championship was run in 1979 in South Australia. The sole class was 2WD 1/8th Scale, and it remained that way until 1994 when a smaller scale race car was introduced, called 1/10th 235mm. It was very similar to the 1/8th scale, however it was limited to a .15 cu.in motor and the class was very competitive. In 2000, the 1/10th 200mm touring Car was introduced and has proved to be very popular. Car in this class are limited to a .12 cu.in motor. Due to increasing popularity of the Touring Car, the 1/10 235mm class its last Australian championship in 2004. In 2008, a second 1/10th 200mm touring class was introduced. This pullstart variant is designed to introduce state and national racing at an entry level.
Australia has hosted two world championships in this section. The first was the 2000 1/8th Scale World Championships at the NSWRCCC track, Moorebank, NSW. The second was the 2006 IFMAR 1/10th 20mm Touring Car World Championships, at the QRCCRA track, Brendale, QLD.
The Australian technical rules closely follow the IFMAR rules for both the 1/8th and 1/10 200mm class.
